MS Walker acquires John L Sullivan Irish Whiskey

Boston-based importer and distributor MS Walker is to reintroduce John L Sullivan Irish Whiskey to the US after purchasing the rights to the brand from Georgetown Trading Company.

John L Sullivan will be reintroduced to the US “in the coming weeks”

Named after the Irish-American boxer, John L Sullivan Irish Whiskey is crafted using Irish grain and other local ingredients before being aged in Bourbon casks.

Triple-distilled in copper pot stills, the expression is described as having notes of spice and vanilla.

“John L. Sullivan is a sports icon in in our hometown, so it was an easy decision to bring the brand into our growing national portfolio,” said Brett Allen, director of national business development for MS Walker.

“Boston has deep Irish roots, and John L embodied a lot of the things that make our city so great: toughness, class, and appreciation for a good drink.”

MS Walker was established in 1933 and serves retail stores, restaurants and hotels.

John L Sullivan Irish Whiskey will be available “in the coming weeks” at an RRP of US$25.99 for a 750ml bottle.

In October 2016, US drinks firm Global Spirits appointed MS Walker as its New England distributor, growing the US footprint for its Khortytsa and Leaf vodka brands.
