Beefeater reveals details of the winning MIXLDN 7 cocktail

Following the grand final of its MIXLDN 7 Cocktail Competition, Beefeater has revealed details about the winning cocktail created by Maxim Schulte.

Maxim Schulte triumphed at the MIXLDN 7 competition with his creation: Stack of Fortune

Maxim Schulte from Hong Kong triumphed at the MIXLDN 7 grand final, hosted at The Bike Shed in Shoreditch, London, with his Stack of Fortune cocktail.

Schulte’s cocktail wowed the judging panel, which included Difford’s Guide editor Simon Difford; Ryan Chetiyawardana of Dandelyan; Doug McMaster of Cub; Alessandro Palazzi of Duke’s Bar; Sumaiyah Connolly, Beefeater global brand ambassador; and Desmond Payne, Beefeater master distiller.

Stack of Fortune combines Beefeater 24 with fresh lime juice, white crème de cacao, mint, orange bitters and a homemade bitter orange blossom sherbet.

Schulte said: “Stack of Fortune was inspired by Macau’s reputation as the Las Vegas of Asia and it’s certainly bought me good luck.”

Following his victory, Schulte will work with Desmond Payne to create his own limited-edition gin.

Schulte said: “I’ve already got some ideas up my sleeve for my limited-edition gin and I’m looking forward to being able to learn from a legend like Desmond Payne.”

In the run up to last week’s competition, SB spoke to Beefeater global brand ambassador, Sumaiyah Connolly, to find out what trends are shaping the gin industry.
