World Gin Day and DrinkUp London launch gin festival

World Gin Day has teamed up with London Cocktail Week organiser DrinkUp London to launch a four-day gin festival in the UK capital this summer.

The inaugural World Gin Day London will run from 7-10 June

Set to run from 7-10 June, World Gin Day London will be the first extension of the annual, global World Gin Day event, which was founded in 2009 and will fall on 9 June this year.

Gin lovers can purchase a festival pass for £10, which will give them access to £6 gin cocktails across more than 75 of London’s best bars.

Furthermore, festival-goers will be able to partake in a series of London-specific events and gin tours, which will be detailed in due course on DrinkUp.London and via the free DrinkUp.London app.

Emma Stokes, chief of World Gin Day and also known as Gin Monkey, said: “I’m incredibly excited to be working with the team at DrinkUp who will bring their many years of experience and provide a tried and tested platform to promote World Gin Day to a wider audience.

“It was a partnership that immediately made sense. London’s my home and I can’t wait for gin fans to take part in this brilliant festival, showcasing the best bars and brands across the city.”

Bars are invited to take part in the inaugural event free of charge and, like other DrinkUp London events, will keep 100% of their profits. The organisers plan to expand the festival to other cities in the future.

Hannah Sharman-Cox, founder of DrinkUp.London, said: “What Emma has created for World Gin Day so far has been incredible, and we really look forward to working alongside her and tapping into the thousands of cocktail lovers always looking for a new opportunity to drink up London.”
