David King, international sales director, will be charged with overall responsibility for worldwide sales as the UK joins his existing international remit. The integration will cover Gordon & MacPhail and Benromach whiskies going forward.

Ewen Mackintosh, managing director at Gordon & MacPhail, which is based in Elgin, Scotland, said: “The UK is an important single malt market and this is reflected in the expansion of David’s remit to include the UK as a key element of the company’s global sales going forward.

“The restructuring of our sales division is part of the company’s global sales strategy going forward is part of the company’s long-term plan to build the reputation of the Gordon & MacPhail single malt whisky brand in the luxury sector while continuing to invest in marketing and brand building for Benromach across the world.”

In the UK, Stuart Ellis, UK sales manager, will be the main contact for wholesale customers. He joined Gordon & MacPhail in 2015 after more than 25 years in numerous account management positions in the UK, including managing his own distribution and online business.

The restructure follows Gordon & MacPhail’s announcement of a 10.8% overall sales increase to £28.3 million (US$39.4m), while international sales grew 11.8% to £8.9m (US$12.4m).
