Chivas Regal launches search for next ‘Master’

Blended Scotch whisky brand Chivas Regal has launched the 2018 iteration of its Chivas Masters cocktail competition, which will focus on the theme of ‘community’.

Last year, Atsushi Suzuki (centre) was named Chivas Master 2017

Now in its fifth year, the Chivas Masters will take place in 22 countries across six continents. Participants in the national heats will be challenged to create a drink inspired by someone in their local community.

National winners will go through to the global final, which will take place both in London and at the Strathisla Distillery in Speyside, said to be the ‘spiritual home’ of Chivas Regal.

“At Chivas Regal, we believe that generosity and success go hand in hand – a belief inspired by our founding brothers, James and John Chivas, who shared their success with the local community as their business grew,” said Max Warner, global brand ambassador for Chivas Regal.

“These are the values that have influenced the Chivas Masters right from the start, and the reason why in 2018 we are beyond excited to bring the global final home to where our brand, values and indeed our own community were born.”

The winner of the Chivas Masters 2018 competition will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans this year.

Last year’s champion was China-based bartender Atsushi Suzuki, who was crowned winner at a global final in Tokyo.
