TOAD vodka kicks off 2018 Fifa World Cup

The Oxford Artisan Distillery’s Oxford Rye Vodka has been chosen by the Russian Embassy for a reception to mark the start of the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

Oxford Rye Vodka is distilled from heritage grain grown in Oxford

The vodka, made from heritage grains, will be enjoyed by dignitaries at the event at the Russian embassy in London on 12 December.

The event will be attended by 120 senior dignitaries from Russia, the UK, Fifa and the world of sport to celebrate the start of the 2018 Fifa World Cup, which will take place in Russia.

The Oxford Artisan Distillery’s (TOAD) founder Tom Nicolson said: “We are deeply honoured to have been selected to participate in this event. The world rightly acknowledges the role that Russia has played over the centuries in creating superb vodkas.”

A select group of Embassy guests will be able to sample the English heritage grain vodka at the event in London.

Distilled from ancient grains, grown sustainably in fields close to the distillery, Oxford Rye Vodka has been branded a ‘grain-to-glass’ spirit since the distillery began production.

Grains for the vodka are farmed using medieval methods, which helps to contribute to biodiversity in the English countryside.

The vodka “has an exceptionally smooth, caramel taste” which comes from the distilleries use of a hand-crafted copper stills.

Earlier this year, TOAD offered drinks fans the chance to purchase shares in the company in order to finance its production of rye whisky.

The 2018 Fifa World Cup takes place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018.
