From rich, dessert-like libations to boozy winter warmers, we round up some of the best festive serves dreamt up by London’s bartenders to get you in the Christmas spirit.

This diverse selection of Christmas cocktails caters for all tastes over the festive season

There is no better time than Christmas to put your cocktail-making skills to the test and entertain family and friends with a selection of boozy offerings from some of London’s best bars.

This winter, while some bartenders have opted for traditional festive flavours such as cinnamon, nutmeg and spices, others have experimented with coffee, English tea and spicy masala mix.

Punches are big this season, with consumers continuing to favour sharing bowls and dishes, while hot drinks also feature highly.

OMG Hot Chocolate – Blade, Soho

Ingredients: Organic cocoa powder, tahini, honey, vanilla, Ceylon cinnamon, and Stagg Jr. Straight Bourbon

Sherry Christmas Cobbler – Sack, Shoreditch

Ingredients: 40ml Fino Sherry, 10ml PX Sherry, 50ml cranberry juice, two dashes Pimento Dram / Bitters, 5ml lemon
Method: Build over ice, stir, garnish with crushed ice, black fruits, mint leaf and icing sugar

Fancy 79 – Super Lyan, Shoreditch

Created by Super Lyan’s Maja Jaworska for Ford’s Gin’s 12 Drinks of Christmas Competition, Fancy 79 is a twist on a French 75, the number 79 is the atomic number for gold.
Ingredients: Ford’s Gin, clementine, kummel, ‘wry truffle’ bubbles. Garnish with a gold chestnut candy shard

Vive La Vida – Mnky Hse, Mayfair

Ingredients: Del Maguey Vida Mezal, shaken with Montenegro, cinnamon syrup and orange juice.

Hot Buttered Rum – The Devil’s Darling, Shoreditch

Ingredients: 50ml dark rum, one teaspoon spiced butter, 100ml hot English breakfast tea, bar spoon of honey

Method: Brew a strong English tea, add honey and rum, stirring to mix. Pout into a rocks glass and place a thin slice of spiced butter on top of the hot mix to melt into an oily layer on top.

Lapland Fizz, Dead Dolls House, Islington

Ingredients: lemon, sugar, egg white, aquavit, soda

Sloe Winter – Oslo, Hackney

Ingredients: Plymouth Sloe Gin, winter berries syrup, rosemary stem, orange bitters and Prosecco

Santa’s Nightcap – London Cocktail Club

Ingredients: 15ml Courvoisier VSOP Cognac, 15ml Cointreau Orange Liqueur, 20ml Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur, 15ml Baileys Irish Cream. Garnish with grated nutmeg and Quality Street chocolate 

Method: Shake and fine strain

Sloeberry Ice pie – Aqua Kyoto

Ingredients: Tanqueray gin, Sipsmith sloe gin, apricot brandy, lemon, grenadine, apricot shrub, soda, cranberries

Enchanted Rose – St James Bar at Sofitel London St James

Inspired by Beauty and the Beast, the Enchanted Rose cocktail was created by head bartender, Kostas Bardas.

Ingredients: Belvedere vodka infused with red berries, framboise eau de vie, white tea syrup, St-Germain liqueur, Peychaud’s bitters and rose water

A Mary Christmas – Benares, Mayfair

Ingredients: Olmeca Tequila and Nuestra Soledad Mezcal thrown with fresh tomato juice and homemade spicy masala mix

Served with a cooling salt and spice lassi on the side garnished with fresh carrot and celery sticks.

Punch – Nuala, Shoreditch

Ingredients: Redbreast 12 Year Old, Guinness, Applejack, aromatic eine, oolong, citrus

Festive Spice – Bala Bala, Southwark

Ingredients: Bourbon, lime, orange, cinnamon, honey and egg white
