Sullivans Cove releases Double Cask DC095
Tasmanian distillery Sullivans Cove has launched a limited-edition bottling of its Double Cask single malt whisky.
Sullivans Cove Double Cask DC095 is bottled at 49.6% abv
Described as the distillery’s “most approachable” single malt whisky, Double Cask DC095 is made with a combination of French oak ex-tawny and American oak ex-Bourbon barrels.
Normally bottled at 40% ABV, DC095 is bottled at 49.6% abv and unfiltered so that the whisky can be tasted in its raw form.
Sullivans Cove head distiller Patrick Maguire said: “We’ve wanted to do this for a really long time. The higher alcohol percentage holds the body of the spirit perfectly and packs a flavour punch.”
“This DC095 release will be just as you would expect from our usual Double Cask with the added advantage of bolder flavours and a creamier mouthfeel,” said distiller Heather Swart.
Sullivans Cove is said to hold the oldest stocks of any Australian whisky distillery, with Double Cask often containing whisky as old as 17 years.
Limited to 959 bottles, the expression will be released initially to members of the Sullivans Cove mailing list prior to general release.
Double Cask DC095 will be priced at US$170 per bottle.
In December last year, Sullivans Cove was sold to a family-owned company led by Adam Sable, the former general manager of Scotch distillery Bladnoch, for an undisclosed sum.
