Irish Distillers sweeps Icons of Whisky Ireland Awards

Jameson producer Irish Distillers has picked up a raft of accolades at the inaugural Icons of Whisky Ireland Awards.

The company – a subsidiary of French drinks group Pernod Ricard – was named Distiller of the Year 2017, while its Jameson Distillery Bow St won Visitor Attraction of the Year.

The distillery underwent an €11 million redevelopment in 2016 and early 2017, closing for six months while work was carried out.

Billy Leighton picked up the Master Blender Award and Gerard Garland, advocacy team manager and Irish whiskey ambassador, received the Irish Whiskey Brand Ambassador Award.

“We are delighted to have been acknowledged with such a prestigious range of awards in this year’s Icons of Whisky Ireland,” said Jean-Christophe Coutures, chairman and CEO of Irish Distillers.

“To receive recognition in a number of areas from whiskey tourism to innovation from our industry peers is extremely special.”
