Breakthru expands US footprint with acquisition

US drinks distributor Breakthru Beverage Group has acquired Bacchus Importers, a boutique fine wine and spirits wholesaler that operates in Maryland, Delaware and Washington DC.

Breakthru purchased Bacchus, which has been family owned since 1994, for an undisclosed sum. The business will continue to operate independently and will maintain its current team.

Breakthru Beverage Group launched in January 2016 year following the merger of large family-run distributors Wirtz Beverage Group and Charmer Sunbelt Group.

Headquartered in New York, the company represents a portfolio of wine, beer and spirits with US$6 billion in annual sales across 16 markets.
