Monkey Shoulder reinvents ice tong with claw device

William Grant & Sons-owned Monkey Shoulder has reinvented the classic ice tongs with the launch of a mechanical claw device in the on-trade.

The new device, called The Claw, is said to provide more precision when it comes to adding ice to drinks through its hooking technique.

The blended Scotch brand recommends using it with its pre-batch Lazy Old Fashioned to save time and reduce customer waiting times.

The new bar tool has been created to coincide with London’s Old Fashioned Week which kicks off on the 2 November. Bartenders can sign up to Old Fashioned week online to receive the new bar tool from Monkey Shoulder.

The Claw follows hot on the heels of the brand’s other bar devices, including the iSpoon in 2014 and the limited edition 1930s Konga Shaker in 2016.

In August this year, Monkey Shoulder gave a “needed” shake-up to the peated whisky category with the launch of a new variant – called Smokey Monkey.
