Limestone Branch Distillery debuts new Bourbon

Kentucky-based Limestone Branch Distillery is to release a 2017 expression of its Yellowstone Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon, which has been finished in charred wine casks.

The 2017 expression of the Bourbon focuses on intense flavours

The spirit blends seven and 12-year-old Kentucky straight Bourbons as well as the distillery’s own first available four-year-old Kentucky straight Bourbon.

The blend is finished in “once-filled, double seasoned” wine casks, which are then toasted and lightly charred.

Each bottle has been signed by the president and distiller of Limestone Branch Distillery, Steve Beam, and is presented in a commemorative tube.

Yellowstone Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon is said to give drinkers “an earthy flavour, dark and rich with a nose of toasted oak”. On the palate, it opens with “caramel and butterscotch” leading to a finish of “rich leather and dark summer fruit”.

Steve Beam said: “We are beyond proud to be using some of our own distillate in this year’s Yellowstone Limited Edition.”

Regarding the process, he added: “By finishing the Bourbon in charred wine casks, we allowed the juice to intensify and evolve, creating a wonderful result.

“While last year’s edition was more about subtle nuances, this year’s edition we focused on intense flavours and a richer final product.”

Yellowstone Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon 2017 (50.5% abv) is available now from the distillery at an RRP of £150 (about US$197) for a 750ml bottle.
