Global travel inspires Far Reaches Gin
A new London dry-style gin has launched in the UK, distilled using 13 botanicals inspired by world travel.
Far Reaches Gin is hand-produced in a 500-litre pot still in London using botanicals sourced from around the world in honour of co-founder Andrew Whiting’s international travel.
Central to the recipe are five botanicals, each sourced from a different continent: quangdong from Australia, juniper from Europe, sarsaparilla from America, grains of paradise from Africa and kumquat from Asia.
The small batch process allows maximum spirit contact with each botanical and heat distribution throughout the distillation, said to result in a “smooth, premium” expression.
A twist on the classic London Dry Gin, Far Reaches Gin has a “forward citrus and floral taste profile”. It is said to be one of the few gins to be conceived, distilled and bottled all in London.
Whiting said: “Having sampled scores of botanicals, and after many tweaks to our recipe, we are delighted to present our new gin: Far Reaches – the perfect spirit for fans of travel and adventure. Far Reaches offers a new take on other gins with citrus-focused flavours from exotic botanicals. Instead of the more conventional orange, lemon or lime, our recipe balances juniper with fresh kumquat notes.

Bottled at 41.3% abv, Far Reaches Gin is available with an RRP of £38 from Masters of Malt and independent retailers throughout Surrey. A small number of bars in London and Surrey will also stock the gin.
