Glengoyne rolls out Sherry cask-finished range in TR

Ian Macleod Distillers has unveiled a new travel retail exclusive range for its Glengoyne single malt Scotch, called Glengoyne Spirit of Oak Collection.

Glengoyne has unveiled four expressions in its new travel retail line

Unveiled at the TFWA World Conference in Cannes this week, the Glengoyne Spirit of Oak Collection consists of four Sherry cask-finished expressions: Glengoyne Curatillo, Glengoyne Balbaína, Glengoyne PX, and Glengoyne 28 Years Old.

Glengoyne Curatillo, held in American oak oloroso Sherry casks, has notes of “toffee, apricot and a hint of cinnamon” and is bottled at 40% abv.

Bottled at 43% abv, Glengoyne Balbaína is held in European oak oloroso Sherry casks, giving the whisky flavours of “caramel, dried apple and cloves”.

The third offering, Glengoyne PX, is matured in both European and American oak, and finished in Pedro Ximinez sherry casks. Bottled at 46% abv, it has a “rich and intense flavour with fresh oak, spice and a touch of caramelised sugar”.

The final expression, Glengoyne 28 year old, is matured for more than quarter of a century in oloroso Sherry casks and bottled at 46.8% abv.

Each cask holds Sherry for three years before it is considered ready to house Glengoyne spirit.

The Spirit of Oak Collection has also been given “distinctive” secondary packaging, bringing together Scottish and Spanish influences with the inclusion of a Moorish star, oak leaves, casks, grapes, thistles and the Glengoyne pagoda roof.

Andy Lane, travel retail director for Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “We’re very proud and excited to be launching this quartet of travel retail exclusives at TFWA Cannes this year, which pay testament to the importance of the finest oak casks, and the unique effort we make to source them.”
