Arran Distillers to sponsor Scottish multi-arts festival

Burns Unbroke, the inaugural multi-arts Robert Burns festival, will be sponsored by Isle of Arran Distillers when it comes to Edinburgh in 2018.

Isle of Arran Distillers will sponsor Burns Unbroke, taking place next year

Alongside fellow sponsors Creative Scotland and Scotland.org, Arran Distillers will support the first Burns Unbroke festival with plans for events to celebrate the Scottish bard, including a whisky masterclass.

Burns Unbroke will run from 25 January 2018 for six weeks and will celebrate artistic talent in Scotland. The programme will feature more than 30 visual artists, spoken word performances, children’s performances, an Alternative Burns Night, and a programme of music.

The inspiration for the Burns Unbroke title comes from the epigraph printed at the beginning of Burns’s first poetry collection, the Kilmarnock edition, published in 1786.

Managing director of Isle of Arran Distillers, Euan Mitchell, said: “As the producer of the official Burns Malt, it was a no brainer for us to get involved in a festival that shares our passion for the poet.

“We’re really excited to be helping bring the Bard to a contemporary audience and give up-and-coming Scottish artists a much deserved platform.”

Burns Unbroke runs at Summerhall, Edinburgh from 25 January to 10 March 2018, with the majority of performance events focused around the weekend of 26-28 January.

The exhibitions will be open to the public, Tuesdays to Sundays, throughout the six weeks and entry is free.
