US distillery creates regional speciality spirits line
Washington DC-based District Distilling Company has extended its offering with the launch of Embassy Row, an “exploratory series” of regional spirits from around the world.

To create the first Embassy Row label spirit, a grappa, the “urban distillery” has partnered with Boxwood Winery in Middleburg, Virginia to source cabernet sauvignon grape must. Strickland begins the distilling process no less than 48 hours after the grapes are pressed.
“The inspiration for this label launch came the day that we moved to DC,” said Matt Strickland, head distiller at District Distilling Co. “My family and I were driving down Mass Avenue and seeing all of the embassies from around the world was such a cool way to enter Washington.
“It struck me that our DC-based distillery would be an ideal place to experiment and explore sprits from around the world. That is exactly what Embassy Row is.”
Embassy Row Grappa is available from the District Distilling Company tasting room. Strickland has several spirits in the work under the Embassy Row label, due for release in 2018 and 2019.
The distillery already produces Checkerbark and WildJune gin brands, Backroom Bourbon, Buzzard Point Rum, and spirits line C&O Tradesman.
