Lakes Distillery hails £2m Founders Club boost

Cumbria’s The Lakes Distillery has sold all 2,975 of its Founders Club memberships, raising more than £2 million (US$2.7m) in revenue.

The Lakes Distillery has sold all 2,975 of its Founders Club memberships

The Founders’ Club invited members to join a 10-year whisky journey of the distillery’s maturing Lakes Malt, starting with its Year 1 Single Malt Spirit.

Paul Currie, managing director of The Lakes Distillery, said: “After 2 years in operation, we are extremely proud to have a Founders Club family at The Lakes Distillery.

“Not only are our members a part of English whisky history, but they are gaining an evolving education and insight in to how new whisky develops over time.

“The location of our founder members demonstrates a global reach of our whisky around the world. This is a magnificent achievement and is a great step towards cementing our place in the world whisky market.”

Each member receives one full-size bottle and two miniature sample bottles every year for 10 years, alongside a host of exclusive benefits.

The club meets at the distillery throughout the year for exclusive tastings, previews and talks led by chief whiskymaker Dhavall Gandhi.

On 16 December 2017 – the distillery’s third birthday – the first casks ever laid down will finally qualify as whisky.
