Beaufort Bar bartender wins Beefeater MIXLDN UK final

Pernod Ricard-owned gin brand Beefeater has named Alexander Walker of The Beaufort Bar in London as the UK finalist of the Beefeater MIXLDN 7 Cocktail Competition.

This year’s competition tasked bartenders with creating cocktail inspired by the city they live and work in, and Walker more than stepped up to the challenge with his cocktail Syon House, made with Beefeater 24. He will undertake a series of specially-designed challenges as he represents the UK in the three-day Global Finals in February 2018.

“Last Tuesday saw the kick-off of the seventh series of the beefeater MIXLDN cocktail competition with the UK national finals being held in London,” said master distiller Desmond Payne.

“The creativity of the bartenders and the quality of their drinks just gets better and better year on year, and as a result, the job of judging becomes more challenging.

“Alex produced a fine drink with a beautiful balance of flavours – the judges’ unanimous favourite – and a good story about Beefeater 24, his favoured gin. I wish him every success against the international competition at the finals in February.”

The winner of this year’s global competition will be crowned Beefeater MIXLDN Global Champion, and will create their own Beefeater gin at the brand’s Kennington distillery under the guidance of Payne – who is celebrating 50 years of distilling in September 2017.
