Truck spills 26,000 litres of Jim Beam and Canadian Club

A Melbourne-bound truck carrying 26,000 litres of Jim Beam Bourbon and Canadian Club whisky has spilt its contents in a head-on collision in the state of South Australia.

The truck was carrying 13,000 litres of Jim Beam Bourbon

A truck carrying 13,000-litre containers of the Beam Suntory-owned brands collided head-on with a refrigeration truck near Coonalpyn just after 2.30am this morning [Wednesday 23 August].

The impact caused the trailer carrying alcohol to flip and catch fire shortly after impact.

The driver, a 42-year-old man from Queensland, was treated at the scene for leg injuries and airlifted to the Flinders Medical Centre in a stable condition. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The other driver, a 34-year-old man from Victoria, escaped with minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The highway was closed for several hours while emergency services were at the scene.

The Spirits Business has approached Beam Suntory for comment.
