Port Askaig Islay Scotch whisky prepares for US launchBy Melita Kiely
Islay Scotch whisky brand Port Askaig is set to launch in 10 US states having appointed ImpEx Beverages as its national importer.
California-based ImpEx will unveil Port Askaig 110° Proof at Whisky Live Pleasanton on 2 September, before it is rolled out to California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Illinois, Maryland, Washington DC, Missouri, Texas, Colorado, Florida, Michigan and Delaware.
Port Askaig 110° Proof single malt Scotch is aged in American oak barrels and bottled at 55% abv. It will have an RRP of US$74.99 per bottle in the US.
The expression will mostly be made available in the off-trade, with plans to expand the permanent range to three SKUs, as well as launching limited edition and US-exclusive single cask bottlings. Brand owner Elixir House plans to expand Port Askaig’s availability to additional states in 2018.
