Thomson, who joined Glenfiddich in 2014, will move north to act as Scottish brand ambassador for million case-selling single malt Glenfiddich.

Rutherford was a finalist in the 2015 Glenfiddich Malt Mastermind competition, leading to his appointment of rum development specialist at William Grant & Sons UK.

In his new role, Rutherford will focus on generating brand awareness, building brand advocacy, and communicating to consumers, bars and restaurants, retailers, distributors and the press.

“I am extremely proud and honoured to be appointed as UK brand ambassador for Glenfiddich,” he said. “It is a truly exciting time to be getting involved, with some fantastic projects coming up, and the opportunity to work with the amazingly talented team. I can’t wait to get out and about and start spreading the Glenfiddich love.”

The Spirits Business named Glenfiddich its 2017 Scotch Whisky Brand Champion thanks to its 9.5% volume growth to 1.21 million cases
