Diageo unveils 28-distillery blend in Special Releases

Diageo has revealed a limited edition blended malt whisky containing liquid from all 28 of its active Scottish distilleries – the Collectivum XXVIII, which is the 10th bottling in its 2017 Special Releases range.

Diageo has unveiled its full line-up of 2017 Special Releases

Collectivum XXVIII is also only the fourth NAS malt whisky in the series to date. It is said to have a “dry, nutty, rich and chocolatey” flavour with zesty and sweet notes.

Diageo has already revealed nine of its 10 Special Releases for 2017, which includes a 52-year-old Port Dundas – the oldest whisky ever released in the series.

Four whiskies in this year’s range originate from distilleries that are now closed.

“The Special Releases range is always a highlight in our calendar year, it reflects the truly extraordinary range of stocks our blenders have available to them,” said Dr Nick Morgan, head of whisky outreach at Diageo.

“The variety and quality of whiskies in the collection is simply impeccable. We’re looking forward to sharing this year’s collection with the world and in particular keen to see the response to the new Collectivum XXVIII.”

The Special Releases collection is an annual showcase of Diageo’s rare and limited edition Scotch whisky stocks.
