Campari’s Negroni Week raises over US$500k for charity

This year’s Negroni Week has raised more than US$500,000 (£390,150) for charity, which will be shared between numerous worthy causes.

Campari Negroni Week raised more than US$500,000 for charity

More than 7,700 bars and restaurants globally took part in the week-long event from 5-7 June, raising a total of US$537,539 in donations.

Kettner Exchange in San Diego raised the greatest amount, meaning that in addition to receiving the donations raised through the Negroni Week website, their chosen charity One More Wave will also be awarded a US$10,000 donation from organiser Campari.

“These generous donations will be assisting 15-20 veterans in receiving custom surfboards, custom wetsuits, ancillary equipment and a score of other assistance items,” said Kyle Buckett, One More Wave vice president.

“By empowering One More Wave, Negroni Week will not only provide the custom equipment needed, but also impact individuals who may be dealing with anxiety, depression and PTSD.

“The ocean therapy these individuals will be able to achieve because of Negroni Week will not only impact their lives, but also their families.”

Other charities set to benefit from the funding include OzHarvest, which will be able to deliver 23,629 meals to people in need; PAWS, which will provide treats, cat scratchers and microchips to kittens in their care; The Arbor Day Foundation, which will be able to plant almost 5,000 trees in a forest; and Water for People, which will be able to supply clean water for a year to more than 500 people.
