Tullibardine unveils The Murray Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Perthshire-based Tullibardine Distillery has released its latest expression – The Murray Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a 2004 vintage finished in casks from the southern Rhône vineyards.

Tullibardine The Murray Châteauneuf-du-Pape will be rolled out to international markets in 2018

The single malt whisky has been released exclusively in Germany via Whisky.de, and will be rolled out to international markets early next year.

The Murray Châteauneuf-du-Pape was distilled in 2004 and bottled in 2017 at 46% abv, and has an RRP of around €52 (US$61). It is non-chill-filtered.

The whisky was initially aged in first-fill Bourbon hogshead casks before being finished in French red wine barriques from the southern Rhône vineyards.

This is the second release in Tullibardine’s Marquess Collection, named after Sir William Murray, the second marquess of Tullibardine.

Keith Geddes, Tullibardine master blender, said: “The Murray (2004) has been a huge success on a global level after winning three industry awards this year, and following a long process of experimentation and patience we’ve produced a delicious whisky which maintains the light characteristic of Tullibardine spirit, but is full of added complexity and depth as a result of using these classic French wine casks.”
