London-based bartender Davide Zanardo, formerly of Chiltern Firehouse, has been named as Martini’s brand ambassador for northern Europe.

In partnership with Bacardi’s local ambassadors, Zanardo will celebrate the modern aperitivo with a programme of events and activations centred on the Italian vermouth and sparkling wine portfolio.

Originally from the north east of Italy, Zanardo began his career in one of the region’s well-known cocktail bars in 2007, and moved to Sydney, Australia in January 2010 where he joined the Eat Drink Manly Group.

He moved to London in 2013, where he became the bar operations manager at Chiltern Firehouse, and was part of the ‘Spirit of Italy’ team at Tales of the Cocktail.

“I feel like I have been close to MARTINI for my entire life; growing up in an area famous for the aperitivo way of living,” said Zanardo. “It feels completely right for me to be joining one of the most recognisable Italian brands in the world and one that I have always had a very strong affinity with.

“I am hugely excited to be taking a central role in a very vibrant up-coming programme of events across Northern Europe from this summer onwards, where I look forward to serving some beautiful Martini aperitivo drinks!”

The brand is readying to launch a raft of European trade activations this year, shining a spotlight on its Vermouth di Torino, Martini Riserva Speciale.

Martini Caffè Torino pop-ups will appear in several cities in the coming months, also featuring at this year’s Bar Convent Berlin.

“I’m delighted to welcome Davide to the Northern Europe brand ambassador team to represent MARTINI,” added Marc Plumridge, Bacardi advocacy director, northern Europe.

“He brings extensive on-trade experience, commercial understanding of operations and huge creativity and dedication – as well as an Italian heritage – we can’t wait to get started with him to meet the challenges of this exciting role.”
