Edrington and Spirits Platform ink distribution deal

Edrington has appointed Spirits Platform as the distributor of its Scotch whisky brand The Glenrothes in Australia, taking over from Samuel Smith & Sons.

The Glenrothes will be distributed in Australia by Spirits Platform

Spirits Platform will take over distribution of the brand from 1 September 2017.

The Glenrothes will join the rest of Edrington’s premium whisky portfolio – which includes The Macallan, Highland Park, The Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark – at Spirits Platform.

“We are very excited about reuniting The Glenrothes with the rest of the Edrington portfolio,” said Mike Kane, APAC regional sales director at Edrington.

“I would like to thank Samuel Smith & Son for the excellent work that they have done in building awareness and distribution for the brand in Australia.”

“Through our successful partnership with Spirits Platform, we are now looking forward to accelerating the growth of this award-winning single malt.”

Ty Menzies, national manager, principals and trading at Samuel Smith & Son, said: “Samuel Smith & Son and The Glenrothes have enjoyed a wonderful partnership over many years with the brand playing a valuable role in the portfolio. We wish The Glenrothes all the best for the future with Spirits Platform.”

British wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros & Rudd sold The Glenrothes single malt whisky brand back to Edrington after seven years of ownership in May 2017.
