Bombay Sapphire’s Glass House Project launch event 2017 – Mallorca

Join global brand ambassador Raj Nagra and a host of industry experts from the sustainability, innovation and design sectors who lead inspiring and interactive learning sessions, all inherently linked to pushing the boundaries of cocktail creativity.

As leaders in the gin category, The Glasshouse Project provides a platform for Bombay Sapphire to support the leaders in the world of mixology, broadening perspectives and sparking new ideas

Following a successful pilot in London in September 2016, Bombay Sapphire recently staged the first of its 2017 global Glasshouse Project workshops in Mallorca, Spain, with southern Europe’s most influential bartenders.

The initiative, which aims to push the boundaries of creativity within mixology, saw attendees partake in a series of creative workshops, interactive exercises, and seminars led by a team of world-leading experts from outside the drinks industry.

Joining Nagra at the three-day event were: Daniel Arnal Salvador, Bombay’s southern Europe brand ambassador; Mark Shayler, director of sustainable innovation consultancy This is Ape; Professor Charles Spence, experimental gastronomy psychologist at the University of Oxford; and Chris Hines MBE, founder of UK-based surfers against sewage and former sustainability director of the Eden Project.

Throughout the three-day event, bartenders were encouraged to apply elements from different fields such as innovation, sustainability and psychology to their craft, culminating in a presentation where they highlighted what they found inspiring and explained how they would work differently in their bars from now on.

The sessions took place in venues designed to draw out creativity – including the 17th century Brando Architect Hotel and Es Baluard Museu D’art Modern.

“As the world’s number one premium gin brand, it’s our responsibility to constantly nurture the creativity of leading mixologists, and push the boundaries of cocktail mixology, to the benefit of top bartenders and the gin category as a whole,” said Bombay Sapphire’s global marketing manager, Julian Davies.

“The Glasshouse Project assembles groups of like-minded people, sharing inspiring new ideas that are shaping our world right now, and fostering creative opportunities to impact our future. It’s an incredibly exciting experience.

“It was fantastic to see some of the best bartenders in Southern Europe show such passion and have genuine hunger to think a little bit differently. The resulting ideas are truly inspiring, and a demonstration of exactly what can be achieved by such an amazing collective of talented people.”

Further Glasshouse Project workshops are already confirmed in the UK and Germany in August, Australia in September and in the AMEA region in November.
