31 Dover parent company acquires wholesaler

The parent company of UK online retailer 31 Dover has completed its acquisition of wholesaler Vanquish Wine and appointed former Naked Wines executive James Bagley as its new CEO.

James Bagley has joined DMD Ventures as CEO

Bagley, former marketing director at Naked Wines UK and vice president of sales and marketing at Naked Wines USA, will join DMD Ventures as its chief executive.

31 Dover and Vanquish Operations now sit under the DMD Ventures umbrella – as such Bagley will act as CEO for all three companies.

Retailer 31 Dover was launched three years ago by David Elghanayan and Jimmy Metta and is forecast to hit revenues of £15 million this year – up 100% year-on-year.

“I am very pleased to announce today that the company has added James Bagley as the new CEO,” said Elghanayan

“Fresh from his experience at Naked Wines UK and USA, James brings significant marketing skill at driving loyalty and retention, growing and scaling businesses, and building and maintaining an entrepreneurial and customer-centric culture.

“Coming from a ‘test and learn’ background at Naked, James’s unique experience and compelling style adds significant capability to the company as we prepare to scale for growth.”

Bagley added: “With award-winning customer service and a high-quality, curated product portfolio, this is the perfect time to invest in and scale the business.”
