Sweden’s Box Destilleri to triple production

Swedish whisky maker Box Destilleri is set to triple production capacity as global demand for its products grows.

The investment will include the two new copper stills, four new washbacks, and some “minor alterations” in the stillroom. It will also allow Box Destilleri to increase its workforce and extend its restaurant and conference sections for visitors

Meanwhile, the build of a new maturation warehouse will be completed “very soon”.

“Our annual production capacity of just over 100,000 litres of pure alcohol is not enough to meet consumer interest. Our response is a decision to triple capacity,” said Box Destilleri’s CEO Thomas Larsson.

Box Destilleri has seen demand for its first standard whisky – Dálvve – “increase dramatically” since the end of last year.

Furthermore, “retailers all over the world have shown interest in the company’s products” since the launch of Box Whisky with government-owned liquor store chain Systembolaget in 2014.

“It’s truly gratifying that so many people are interested in our products and that our business attracts whisky aficionados, companies and tourists from countries all over the world,” added Larsson.

“This investment will allow us to take our place as one of the most ambitious distilleries in the world of new whisky.”
