Glencairn enjoyed its “most profitable year on record” in 2016

Glencairn Crystal saw its total sales grow by 10% to hit £8.6 million in 2016, up from £7.8 million in 2015.

International sales were larger than those in the UK for the first time in the firm’s history, with Asia witnessing the largest sales uptick of 74%.

Direct international sales accounted for 52% of volume sales last year as medium and large-scale clients and “craft” producers alike sought after bespoke packaging and glassware.

The firm recently established a large contract with Brown Forman in the US, Tomatin, Glenmorangie and Stolichnaya Group, and now counts more than 300 “craft” distilleries, including Balcones and Ironroot in Texas and Hudson in New York, as clients.

Since it was created in 2001 the Glencairn Glass has seen a year-on-year global sales increase, with more than three million sold across the globe in 2016 – up by 22% in value compared to the previous year.

“We have worked tirelessly as a family owned company to ensure that we offer extraordinary customer service and innovation at every stage of our business,” said Scott Davidson, director at Glencairn. “We are proud of what Glencairn has achieved – particularly on a global scale.

“Our success internationally stems from our focus on relationship building and truly understanding our clients demands and needs, across spirit sectors and markets. We are fully focused on building this area of sales to ensure that Glencairn is synonymous with the world’s leading spirits brands, packaging and drinking experiences.”
