Whitley Neill founder intros Marylebone Gin

The Pleasure Gardens Distilling Company, owned by the founder of Whitley Neill Gin, has rolled out its inaugural product across the UK – called Marylebone Gin.

The company is located on the former site of the 18th century Marylebone Pleasure Gardens, and is the brainchild of Johnny Neill – a descendent of 8 generations of gin distillers through his Greenall Whitley family background.

Distilled in Marylebone village; the gin features 13 botanicals, many of which are previously associated with the original Pleasure Gardens including chamomile, lemon balm, lime flower and grapefruit.

Distilled in batches in a tiny pot, Marylebone Gin has an abv of 50.2%, and offers a “delicate and complex flavour profile” with “floral overtones and a lingering taste of cassia, cloves and liquorice”.

“I’ve launched The Pleasure Gardens Distilling Company to bring gin distilling right back into the heart of Marylebone, to a site just a stone’s throw from where the Pleasure Gardens used to lie,” said Neill.

“My family have had a strong association with Marylebone village since the early 1980’s and I spent many wonderful years living in the area.”

The brand is set to collaborate with the 108 Bar in London’s Marylebone Hotel in June, where it will launch an onsite distillery and bespoke limited edition gin, along with two specially-created serves.

Neill added: “I’m extremely excited to be working alongside our partners at The Marylebone Hotel where Isabella, our beautiful copper pot still is now sitting, and from which we intend to develop fun, interesting and locally handcrafted products.”

Initially launching exclusively into Selfriges, Marylebone Gin has expanded its distribution to Majestc and Ocado.
