Drinkaware has appointed three new people to its board of trustees

New trustees Charles Allen, Paul Wells and Neil Williams were appointed following an open recruitment process under the leadership of chair Sir Leigh Lewis, bringing the member count up to 11.

Allen has been Arsenal Football Club Plc’s head of marketing since 2010, and previously spent 17 years at global drinks giant Diageo, where he held a number of commercial and marketing roles both globally and in specific overseas markets.

Wells is a director and chairman at independent pub and brewing business Charles Wells Ltd, and has worked in a wide variety of roles at the company spanning the brewing, retail and commercial operations.

A council member of the British Beer & Pub Association since 1998, Wells is also the former chair of the Independent Family Brewers of Britain. He is currently a warden of the Worshipful Company of Brewers in the City and is also non-executive chairman of Muntons Plc.

Williams is the current head of gov.uk and has almost 20 years’ experience developing strategic web based and digital communications. Prior to this he spent five years at both the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.

He has advised on the boards of the NHS.Uk Digital Transformation Programme and the Police.uk Digital Public Contact programme and is the winner of a civil service award for leadership.

Sir Lewis said: “It gives me great pleasure to be welcoming three new trustees onto the Drinkaware Board, in this our 10th anniversary year.

“They will each bring a wealth of experience to our mission of reducing alcohol related harm and their wide range of skills and knowledge will enhance the board’s breadth and independence. We are very much looking forward to working with them all.”
