Douglas Laing releases 18yo Scotch duo

Scotch whisky bottler and blender Douglas Laing & Co has added two limited edition 18-year-old expressions to its Remarkable Regional Malts range.

Timorous Beastie 18 Years Old is bottled without colouring or chill-filtration

Timorous Beastie 18 Years Old is bottled at 46.8% abv and without colouring or chill-filtration.

Packaged in a premium gift tube with copper foil detail, the bottling is described as “gentle spices”, complemented by “honey, vanilla and juicy barley”. The third release under the brand to carry an age statement, Timorous Beastie 18 Years Old follows 2016’s 40 Years Old and 21 Years Old bottlings.

Also bottled at 46.8% abv, Rock Oyster 18 Years Old is a “maritime marriage” of malts distilled on Arran, Islay, Jura and Orkney. Said to be “rich with flavours of the sea”, the tasting notes for Rock Oyster include “a blast of sea air, tobacco and sweet peat”. The packaging features a detailed illustration of a sailboat battling stormy seas off Scotland’s West Coast.

“The launch of this pair of feisty yet mature teenagers is an exciting development for Douglas Laing,” said Fred Laing, Douglas Laing & Co’s managing director.

“Joining our recently launched Scallywag 13 Years Old, our Remarkable Regional Malts range is expanding and growing up, delivering a comprehensive and dynamic range of credible yet fun Scotch whiskies for the specialist retail channel”.

Marketing manager, Jenny Rogerson, added: “Our new limited releases represent a substantial opportunity for us to generate awareness and demand for the core Timorous Beastie and Rock Oyster brands.

“We intend to maximise their potential via a suite of point of sale materials, a global sampling programme and events such as Whisky Live Paris, ensuring this exceptional liquid reaches the lips of whisky consumers and influencers all over the world.”

Timorous Beastie 18 Years Old and Rock Oyster 18 Years Old is available now from specialist spirits retailers globally.
