World Duty Free lists Loch Lomond across UK

Loch Lomond Group’s eponymous travel retail exclusive Scotch range is now available at seven UK airports through World Duty Free, following a successful launch in Glasgow.

The four expression-strong range has exceeded sales expectations and ranked as the top whisky in the retailer’s Glasgow Airport store through February and March, the brand says.

As a result, World Duty Free requested to stock the brand at each of their 11 World of Whiskies outlets across UK airports.

The range comprises two single malts – Loch Lomond 12 Year Old and Loch Lomond Inchmurrin Madeira Cask Finish – alongside blended Scotch Loch Lomond Signature and Loch Lomond Single Grain, which is made using malted barley in Coffey stills.

The collection was designed to showcase the different distillation techniques at the Loch Lomond distillery, and is available in one-litre formats in travel retail.

Loch Lomond whisky is now available in 100 markets globally, and the UK travel retail expansion is part of the brand’s TR expansion strategy.

“We are excited that the product has sold so well in our home airport and are confident this trend will be replicated across the country,” said André de Almeida, managing director of Global Travel Retail at Loch Lomond Group.

“It reflects the success that the Loch Lomond Group’s scotch whisky brands – Loch Lomond, Glen Scotia and Littlemill – are having globally.

“It is part of our ongoing strategy to offer something new to the marketplace that will deliver the same strong sales as reported at Glasgow airport, whilst also giving scotch whisky drinkers around the world something individual and exciting to discover.

“Our packaging has been designed to stand out on the shelf and tells the story of the innovative parts that combine to create the distinctive liquid inside. Our four expressions each offer their own inimitable flavour and character, revealing the innovative techniques used at the distillery. The tasting activity we undertook to support the launch of the products in store has seen us drive trial, convert current scotch whisky drinkers and introduce new people to the category also.”

Nigel Sandals, liquor category buying manager at World Duty Free, added: “The Loch Lomond GTR collection has been an exceptional addition to our Glasgow Airport store. Our customers have been excited about taking home a taste of the world-famous Loch Lomond.

“The impressive sales of the collection have given us the confidence in the brand to roll it out across all of our World of Whiskies stores in seven UK airports. We believe that all travellers will be keen to try this new and exciting product.”

Loch Lomond’s GTR collection is available in the channel now priced from £25-£75 (about US$31-94).
