Halewood channels British countryside with Nettle Gin

Halewood International-owned craft spirits range JJ Whitley has launched Nettle Gin, inspired by English country gardens and hedgerows.

Halewood International-owned craft spirits range JJ Whitley has launched Nettle Gin

JJ Whitley Nettle Gin has a “heavy herbaceous aroma”, and offers a “light, fresh, zingy kick”, on the palate, “bound together with a gentle sweetness”.

The brand recommends serving the gin in its signature ‘Hatton Garden Iced Tea’ serve, which blends green tea, lemon juice, sugar syrup and soda.

Halewood first introduced the range in spring 2016 with two gins – JJ Whitley London Dry Gin and Elderflower Gin – and two vodkas – JJ Whitley Potato Vodka and Rhubarb Vodka.

A spokesperson at Halewood said: “We’re delighted to be launching this distinctive new gin. It’s the fifth spirit to join the collection which includes an elderflower gin and a rhubarb vodka thus it’s a perfect addition to the portfolio.

“The quality and innovation of this exceptionally crafted liquid celebrates the brand’s rich rural heritage and fondness of seasonal flavours.”

Inspired by the British countryside, the JJ Whitley brand is named after Whitley family, who began creating fine spirits in Daresbury, Cheshire in 1762, and “reflects their passion for foraging, exploring and discovering exciting new flavours”.

Bottled at 38.6% abv, JJ Whitley Nettle Gin is available from Master of Malt in 700ml bottles at an RRP of £18.95. A 500ml bottle is also available.
