BenRiach expands peated whisky portfolio
Recent Brown-Forman acquisition The BenRiach Distillery has added to its peated Speyside range with single malt expression Peated Cask Strength Batch 1.
BenRiach has expanded its peaty portfolio with the launch of Peated Cask Strength Batch 1
Developed to pair with its Classic Cask Strength release, the peated Speyside malt is bottled at 56%, is of natural colour and is non-chill-filtered.
Given nosing and tasting notes include campfire smoke, toasted oak, orchard fruit and barley notes.
The Peated Cask Strength expression was selected by outgoing master distiller Billy Walker. He stepped down last month after Rachel Barrie, former Morrison Bowmore master blender, was appointed to head whisky production across the GlenDronach, Glenglassaugh and BenRiach distilleries.
“Our new Peated Cask Strength Batch 1 is an exciting first for the distillery,” said Stewart Buchanan, BenRiach Distillery global brand ambassador.
“Made with heavily peated malted barley to produce a unique, smoky expression, it also captures the Speyside character of BenRiach.
“Luscious and smooth, the peat is beautifully balanced with our delicious Speyside notes, and this whisky is a wonderful addition to any malt collectors’ portfolio.”
The BenRiach Peated Cask Strength Batch 1 will be available from specialist whisky retailers across Europe and Asia Pacific shortly. In the UK the expression is priced at £61.99 (about US$78).
