By Amy HopkinsAs the at-home drinking trend continues to grow, two entrepreneurs have launched a gin subscription service that showcases special edition batches from a different distillery each month.
One Time Gin showcases experimental gins created in the UKLaunched by James Grant and Max Charter, One Time Gin highlights experimental ‘one-off’ bottlings created by UK distillers.
Grant, who previously worked with a distillery in East London, said that since many experimental products are not commercially available, he asked producers if they would be interested in releasing the gins on a limited basis if a route-to-market could be established.
“The response from the distilleries was phenomenal and the quality of product they we’re suggesting was insane – quirky blends, rare and luxurious ingredients that couldn’t be done on a large scale,” he said. “It needed to be done.”
Max Charter, of Victory London Distillery, partnered with Grant to launch One Time Gin and produced the subscription service’s first product – a gin made with eucalyptus, Douglas fir and pine needles – on New Year’s Eve.
Manchester Gin will create the next product for One Time Gin, a cherry blossom and jasmine expression.
Members of One Time Gin will receive a full-sized bottle of its ‘Gin of the Month’ along with a range of mixers and ingredients to create its ‘Cocktail of the Month’. Each kit will also contain a leaflet outlining what how the gin is made, the distillery that made it, and a range of serving suggestions.
Subscriptions allow consumers to receive the kits on a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly basis, with each delivery costing £42.00.
In September last year, London distiller Sipsmith launched its own gin subscription service after raising 200% of its crowdfunding target on Indiegogo.
