Skyy Vodka campaigns for Oz marriage equality

Gruppo Campari-owned Skyy Vodka has partnered with comedian and TV presenter Joel Creasey and LGBTIQ equality organisation Just Equal to petition for marriage equality using “smart-tech” glasses.

The #CheerstoEquality campaign introduces “first-of-its-kind” communicative glassware – the moment two smart glasses clink together, a photo is automatically taken and a digital signature petitioning support for marriage equality is sent through Twitter using #auspol.

People who #CheerstoEquality will have the opportunity to have their photo and digital signature added to a rainbow support flag in Sydney as a symbol of a united show of support.

Backed by Creasey – an active supporter of the LGBT+ community in Australia – the campaign aims to attract the attention of political decision-makers by “turning a moment into a movement”.

“People want equal love recognised in Australia and this is their chance to show it,” said Creasey.

“Australia has been in need of a change for a long time, something we can all pitch in to help achieve.

“#CheerstoEquality gives Australians a simple way of showing their support and help finally make it happen – so I’m thrilled to be on the journey for change!”

Creasey will attend the smart glasses launch event, set to be held at the Flinders Hotel in Darlinghurst, Sydney on Wednesday 1 March.

Six smart glasses will also be available at Swanson Hotel, Erskineville and The Horse, Surry Hills throughout March.

AUS$1 from every Skyy Vodka product and Skyy Vodka ‘Equal Parts’ cocktail sold nationwide during March 2017 will be donated to Just Equal.
