The Bloomsbury Club Bar in London is readying to host the “first ever” residency from New York City’s BlackTail, the brainchild of the team behind renowned bar The Dead Rabbit.

The Bloomsbury Club Bar in London is readying to host the “first ever” residency from New York City’s BlackTail

Forming part of the bar’s Club Residencies Project, BlackTail will kick off the three-night guests spot on Thursday 9 February with a menu created by bar manager Jesse Vida – previously of The Dead Rabbit, Booker & Dax and Dutch Kills.

Harrison Ginsberg, who currently works across both The Dead Rabbit and BlackTail, will join Vida behind the bar and bring a taste of New York City to London.

Inspired by the American bars that popped up in Havana during US Prohibition, BlackTail was opened in August 2016 by The Dead Rabbit’s Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry.

The bar’s drinks list is split into five categories – Highball, Punch, Sour, Old-Fashioned and Cocktail – and consists of classic cocktails “interpreted for today’s tastes and amplified with the latest techniques”.

The Bloomsbury Club Bar will offer four of BlackTail’s most popular drinks alongside four BlackTail twists on its own cocktail menu.

Cuban-inspired Jazz will be played each night accompanied by a selection of food inspired by BlackTail and designed to complement the drinks.

The first of 2017’s ‘The London Sessions’ series will take place at the bar on Thursday 9 February, hosted by founder Rebekkah Dooley. She will be accompanied industry speakers including Vida and Tomas Estes, the ambassador for Tequila in Europe.

Bar manager Brian Calleja said: “I am delighted to be continuing to host the world’s best bars as part our Club Residencies Project. BlackTail serve some of the best cocktails in the US, which makes them the perfect partner for The Bloomsbury Club Bar.”

The Club Residencies Project launched in November 2016 with Athens-based bar The Clumsies.
