Cuervo bottles US$4k Rolling Stones edition

Jose Cuervo has expanded the Rolling Stones Tour Pick range with a limited edition bottling of its anniversary expression Jose Cuervo 250 Aniversario.

The bottling joins the Rolling Stones Tour Pick range

First introduced in 2008, Jose Cuervo 250 Aniversario was launched as a celebration of the 250th anniversary of Cuervo’s establishment as the first legal Tequila company in the world.

Now, as part of an ongoing collection which pays homage to the role Jose Cuervo played in the Rolling Stones 1972 ‘Tequila Sunrise’ North American Tour, the brand has repackaged the “rare” liquid in a bespoke bottle.

The bottle is adorned with the band’s iconic lapping tongue symbol cast in 14 karat gold, topped golden spikes and a glass blown stopper, and presented in a leather-bound guitar case.

The liquid is made from hand-selected 100% blue agave from one single estate. The piñas are then cooked for 72 hours in a brick oven and pressed just once to extract the liquid – a process that would usually occur three or four times.

After fermentation and distillation, the Tequila is aged in new French and American oak barrels for a minimum of three years, before blending with a reserve from the Cuervo family’s private cellar – some of which has laid there for more than 100 years.

To finish, the liquid spends one final year resting in Spanish sherry casks.

Only 25 bottles of Jose Cuervo 250 Aniversario The Rolling Stones Special Edition are available in the US for a retail price of US$4,000.
