By Amy HopkinsSazerac has expanded its limited edition Expresiones del Corazón Tequila line with the addition of three expressions aged in a variety of American whiskey barrels.
Corazón Tequila’s new limited editions for 2016The range, new for 2016, includes: Buffalo Trace Reposado, aged 10 and a half months in Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels; Old Rip Van Winkle Añejo, aged for 23 months in Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon barrels; and Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Añejo, aged for 19 months in Thomas H. Handy Sazerac whiskey barrels – the most limited in the collection.
Expresiones del Corazón 2016 also includes Artisanal Blanco, which was held for 60 days in stainless steel. The Artisanal Blanco was used as the base for the other Tequilas in the range.
“The combination of the Artisanal Blanco with these flavourful barrels from Buffalo Trace Distillery has resulted in three one-of-a-kind Tequilas, including this year’s addition of Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Añejo, which we’re thrilled to share,” said Megan Hurtuk, marketing manager for Tequila at Sazerac.
Corazón Tequila is produced at the Casa San Matías Distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, using only blue agave.
Expresiones del Corazón, all of which carry an abv of 40% (80 proof), will be available in very limited quantities across the US for between US$59.99 and US$79.99, depending on the expression.
In October last year, Corazón Tequila launched a new set of “uncomplicated” packaging designs for its blanco, reposado and añejo variants.
