Calvados competition opens for entries

The Syndicate of Cider-producing Labels of Origin (IDAC) is seeking bartenders to compete in the 21st edition of its global Calvados bartending competition – Nouvelle Vogue.

Bartenders must create a cocktail inspired by this year’s theme: the sea and the seaside

Bartenders from across 14 countries, including Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom, will take part and seek to win the International Professional Bartender Trophy.

Pre-selection rounds in each country will take place in February to identify the two top competitors, who will travel to France for the International Finals in Granville, France on 10 April 2017.

Bartenders must create a cocktail using Calvados as the only alcohol base inspired by this year’s theme: the sea and the seaside.

French bartenders have until midnight on the 6 February to enter, bartenders from other participating countries must contact their bartender association for individual deadlines.

Finnish bartender Markus Sillanpää, of E.Ekblom bar, was awarded the International Professional Bartender Trophy in last year’s Nouvelle Vogue competition.
