Balcones limited edition whiskeys land UK

Texas-based craft distillery Balcones has launched two limited edition whiskeys in the UK market.

Balcones Rum Cask Single Malt and Balcones Blue Corn Bourbon, 2nd release are now available in the UK

Balcones first announced plans to launch the variants in the UK during this year’s TWE Whisky Show in London.

Now, Balcones Rum Cask Single Malt and the second edition of Balcones Baby Blue Bourbon have landed in the UK to “showcase Balcones’ big, bold, innovative style”.

Balcones Rum Cask Single Malt is a blend of Balcones’ signature ‘1’ Texas Single Malt Classic Edition that has been aged in the distillery’s own Texas Rum barrels for “several months”. The whiskey is then bottled at a cask strength of 64.2% abv.

Balcones Blue Corn Bourbon, 2^nd release, has been bottled as a straight Bourbon at 64.8%, mirroring the style of its 2015 predecessor.

“A big part of what excited us about distilling is in the research and development; experimenting and pushing boundaries of what has been done before and sharing our individual approach to spirits,” said Jared Himstedt, head distiller at Balcones.

“Showcasing our special releases each year is really fun for us. This year’s releases are no exception – our Rum Cask Single Malt marries two of our favourite spirits together. We are super happy with the resulting blend and how our Single Malt reads under a different backdrop.”

Last month, Balcones opened the doors of its new distillery in Waco, Texas, to consumers.
