Bullards intros gin distilled with hops
By Annie HayesIndependent gin company Bullards has unveiled Norwich Hop Gin, distilled with seven different hop varieties from the US, in partnership with Jarrold Department Store.
Bullards has launched new Norwich Hop Gin
The new expression from the Norwich-based brand is distilled with seven different hop varieties – all of which begin with the letter ‘C’ – which are added at two different stages of production.
According to Bullards, this process ensures “maximum hoppy flavour” in the bottle without “overpowering” the botanical balance.
The expression is intended to “straddle the line” between Gin Lane and Beer Street – paintings by historic artist William Hogarth – and “marry the best elements of both” to create a hop gin.
In addition, the gin aims to pay tribute to the Bullards family, who supplied Norfolk with beer for more than 100 years.
Director and head of sales, Craig Allison, said: “The combination of two historic and unmistakably Norwich names – Bullards and Jarrold – represents our respect for the history of the City as we start to innovate and experiment with more flavours and styles in the coming months.”
Described as “lightly perfumed and sweet on the nose”, Bullards Hop Gin is said to be “perfectly suited to a strong G&T” as the quinine of the tonic compliments the bitter notes of the hops.
The gin is exclusively available from the deli in Jarrold’s flagship store in Norwich or online from their website.
