Firebox intros Phoenix Tears Spiced Rum
Online retailer Firebox has expanded its spirits range with the launch of Phoenix Tears Spiced Rum – containing “real shimmering Phoenix tears with an opalescent lustre”.

The iridescent rum offering is the latest addition to Firebox’s ‘Mythical Tears’ spirits portfolio, and follows the recent relaunch of sister spirit, Unicorn Tears Gin Liqueur.
Made by “mixing the Phoenix’s sorrowful syrup” with “a premium Caribbean rum”, Phoenix Tears Spiced Rum offers aromas of brown sugar and dried fruit with cinnamon and ginger on the palate – resulting in a “sweet and spicy flavour”.
The expression is described as “a mythical alcoholic manifestation of this beautiful ancient beast and all of its fabled powers”.
Kristian Bromley, Firebox’s managing director, said: “Like its fabled stablemate, Unicorn Tears Gin, the closely-guarded extraction method remains a well-kept secret for now. This spiced rum is the missing mythical ingredient in your drinks cabinet.”
Firebox suggest serving the rum in a Charred & Stormy, made by topping 50ml Phoenix Tears Spiced Rum with ginger beer. Add a squeeze of lime before stirring.
Distilled in England and bottled at 40% abv, Phoenix Tears Spiced Rum is available to buy exclusively from the online retailer priced at £39.99 for 500ml.
The rum is currently available in the UK only, with further availability planned for 2017.
