Diageo reveals winning World Class List host

Diageo Reserve has named aspiring Australian musician Carey Watkins as the host for its new TV show, World Class List – an international adventure to create the “ultimate drinks list”.

Aspiring Australian musician Carey Watkins has been selected as the host of World Class List

LA-based Watkins, 27, was picked from hundreds of entries to host the show – a concept developed by the team behind the World Class Bartender of the Year competition.

Travelling for more than two months, Watkins will uncover the best things to do, eat and drink in five cities across the globe, led by local World Class bartenders.

A camera crew will capture his journey he endeavours to curate a list of the “best drinks in the world”.

Watkins said: “It was unbelievable when I got the call to find out I would be the host for World Class List. It has been my dream to travel the world, explore different cultures and experience international food and drink.

“I can’t wait to venture outside of my comfort zone and learn new things about myself and the world around me and hopefully bring home the world’s best drink list for you all to enjoy.”

Watkins is no stranger to an adventure, and has previously spent time in Brazil, Argentina and even the Australian outback.

Nick Hoskin, creative director at Something Studios, said: “Carey shared his passion, enthusiasm and excitement for this opportunity at every stage in the application process. He demonstrated a down-to-earth nature, a desire to explore and a thirst for knowledge, all while keeping us entertained.

“We’re looking forward to having him take us, and our audience, on this journey to create World Class List.”

World Class List will commence filming in November 2016, with the show due to debut globally in Spring/Summer 2017.
