World’s ‘first’ hangover bar opens

The world’s “first” hangover bar, where revellers are breathalysed on entry to prove they’ve been drinking, has opened in Amsterdam.

The bar houses beds to lounge on, healthy juices and smoothies provided by Innocent, and a specially created anti-hangover menu

Hangover Bar is only open on weekends and claims to have everything needed to handle a hangover from massages to a bed with a flat screen television.

There’s no change of cheating your way in, either – ‘hangover inspectors’ breathalyse visitors on the way in to make sure they still have alcohol in their system.

The garage-turned-bar houses cosy beds to lounge in, healthy juices and smoothies provided by Innocent, and a specially created anti-hangover menu by Foodora on offer.

An on-site oxygen bar promises to restore a guest’s body with a “shot of oxygen”.

The bar, which has been described as a “green oasis”, is open from Friday to Sunday between 10am and 6pm.

Co-owner Joep Verbunt told the MailOnline: “Most people share the opinion that the day after a night out is somewhat less successful.

“To overcome a hangover there are a few things you need: a good mattress, good food, fun and lots of vitamins.”

The bar first opened in the Netherlands on the 24 September, with plans to expand into different countries in the future.

But this isn’t the first bar where guests can make themselves at home, in August this year a naked rooftop bar opened in London which encouraged Brits to bare all 60ft up from the ground.
