Radico Khaitan unveils Himalayan single malt
By Annie HayesIndian alcohol company Radico Khaitan has launched Rampur Indian Single Malt Whisky – a new expression crafted in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Rampur Single Malt is crafted in the foothills of the HimalayasRampur Single Malt is distilled in traditional copper pot stills before being matured in India’s largest and oldest distillery, which dates back to 1943.
Its location in Uttar Pradesh, in the Himalayan foothills, exposes the whisky to diverse climate conditions throughout the year.
Hot Indian summers are said to provide “an added dimension and depth” to the resulting expression, which matures “significantly more quickly than other whiskies, such as Scotch and Irish”.
Sanjeev Banga, president of international business for Radico Khaitan, said: “Rampur is for the discerning single malt consumer. Single Malt consumers prefer uniqueness in the taste. They are always keen to try a new malt. Rampur is different yet pleasing, spicy but balanced.”
Created by master blender Anup Barik, Rampur is said to have a “smooth, mellow taste with a long-lasting finish” and feature notes of creamy vanilla, apricot and apple.
Each bottle is presented in a white and gold drum with a silk pouch to “reflect India’s style and heritage”.
Rampur Indian Single Malt Whisky is non chill-filtered, bottled at 43% abv, and is now available in America, Germany, UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Malaysia, Japan and the UK for an RRP of £40.95 for 700ml.
