Chivas Regal releases first blended malt

Chivas Regal has released its first blended malt Scotch whisky, Chivas Regal Ultis, which contains liquid from five Speyside distilleries.

Chivas Regal Ultis is the brand’s first blended malt Scotch whisky

With an RRP of US$200, Chivas Regal Ultis contains single malt whisky distilled at Tormore, Longmorn, Strathisla, Allt A’Bhainne and Braeval.

The Chivas Brothers-owned brand claims less than 1% of its casks are individually selected by Chivas Regal’s blending team to create Ultis.

The variant also pays homage to Chivas Regal’s five master blenders since its launch in 1909: Charles Howard, Charles Julian, Allan Baillie, Jimmy Lang and Colin Scott.

In addition to a slender design and golden crest, Ultis’s bottle features a pen-clip closure etched with five rings and the Roman numeral figure for five on the base.

“I am honoured to have been one of only five master blenders for Chivas Regal, and I believe that Chivas Regal Ultis represents the true essence of this iconic Scotch whisky,” said Colin Scott, Chivas Regal’s current master blender.

“With the release of Chivas Regal Ultis, only the most precious single malts from five signature Speyside distilleries have been selected to craft this luxury blended malt whisky from the house of Chivas.”

Richard Black, global brand director for Chivas Regal, added: “To launch the first blended malt Scotch whisky from the house of Chivas is truly a momentous occasion.

“Chivas Regal Ultis represents the essence of Chivas Regal and is a fitting tribute to our legendary craftsmen of the past, with recognition of the luxury quality of our Scotch whisky portfolio.”

The whisky will launch globally in all major retailers and travel retail from October 2016.

In May last year, Chivas Regal launched a travel retail exclusive that it described as “the pinnacle” of its Scotch whisky portfolio – Chivas Regal The Icon.
