Top five retro Campari artworks
By Annie HayesThe largest collection of Campari art, dating back to the early 1900s, is currently being exhibited in the UK – SB presents five of the most intriguing images from Galleria Campari On Tour.
Located in cultural institution Osteria at the Barbican, Galleria Campari On Tour recounts the story of the brand through modern and contemporary expressions of artistic works created by international artists through an initiative created by the gallery’s artistic director, Marina Mojana.
The exhibition is intended to be “a journey into the evolution of time” interpreted through nine works of art ranging from Marcello Nizzoli, creator of the Post-Cubist Campari poster to Futurist, Fotunato Depero.
Other artists include Leonetto Cappiello – marking the first time the artist has been exhibited in the UK – Bruno Munari, Marcello Dudovich and Giovanni Mingozzi.
Pietro Mattioni, managing director of Campari UK said: “It is incredibly exciting to be debuting Galleria Campari on Tour in the UK. Celebrating the 155-year history of Campari, the heritage brand in our portfolio – visitors will be able to witness the Italian style and rich artwork of this iconic brand.”
Guests are invited to sample a flight of Negronis or sip on the Spiritello cocktail in homage to Leonetto Cappiello’s 1921 artwork.
To complement the collection, Michelin-starred chef Anthony Demetre has designed a bespoke tasting menu highlighting the botanical notes of Campari with an emphasis on seasonality and Italian produce – ranging from salt-baked sea bass to vanilla and strega panna cotta.
The Galleria Campari On Tour exhibition will be on display at Osteria and Amore Bibo until 31 December 2016.
